Burton Custom: My First All Mountain Snowboard

Burton Custom is my first snowboard. I had the 2016 model with size 158cm. I rode it for one full 2015-2016 season. I also tried different season's models from 10 years ago to recent ones and they all felt relatively the same. This is the board that I learned all the snowboard basics. Although it not an ideal board for a beginner, riding this board forced me to learn the hard way which turned out to be a blessing as I could ride any board after this. I learned to ride in all terrains, do few tricks, jumps, and even switch. I had the best carving experience with his board so far!
It is a traditional camber board, with medium-stiff flex, medium side cut radius, and a directional twin shape which performs well in all mountain terrains.
- Traditional camber allows a stable ride but is less forgiving with an improper technique. If the wrong edge of the board catches the snow, it will throw you off
- Medium-stiff flex helps with stability specially at medium to high speeds but require more strength and technique to control
- Medium side cut radius allow medium turns (not too fast or too slow) and nice medium carves
- Directional twin shape can be ridden as switch by offsetting the stance forward but of course, it performs better as directional. The stance can be offset backward to allow the nose of the board to float better in powder
This board can ridden anywhere in the mountain specially in medium to large resorts as the stability will tire you less allowing you to ride longer provided that you have right technique and strong enough to control it. It not easy to ride this board in park or powder in tight trees but doable for strong and technical riders. It has great speed, great for carving and jumping.
