Yes 2020: My Freestyle Powder Snowboard

I got the Yes 2020 150cm at the end of last season at a 20% discount from an online US store. Since Yes snowboards do not ship directly to Japan, my friend Steve - based in Texas, helped me ship to Japan. I got this board to replace my Burton Branch Manager because my riding style is geared towards freestyle. This is one of its kind freestyle powder board with a unique powder hull which floats in deep powder even at centered stance.

It is a hybrid camber with a powder hull, medium flex, short side cut radius, wide width and a true twin shape.

- The hybrid camber profile has a slight camber between the feet and turns into a rocker towards the nose. The nose is basically lifted to float in powder. The camber allows a stable ride and carve even at high speed.

- Powder hull is a unique concave shape in the nose and tail. At the nose, the concave draws air under the board causing lift and floatation. As the snow moves across the base it releases off the tail and the exaggerated rocker line along the center, causes the tail to drop downward.

- Medium flex helps with stability specially at medium speeds

- Short side cut radius allows you to make fast turns and medium carves

- Wide width means it has larger surface area for its size which helps float in powder. The 150 cm board has a surface area equivalent to 158 cm normal width boards.

- True twin shape has a same surface area in the nose and tail which is great for switch and freestyle riding

I have used this board for one season now and the riding feel is really unique. It floats very well in powder despite its short size even at centered stance. It is quite light and flexible enough for few tricks (no jumps - risky). The nose and tail are quite soft so not ideal for hard buttering. It has good edge for carving on groomers. It is easy to control despite the wide width but challenging for tight tree runs. The wide width and camber profile makes it easy to catch the edge so requires advance skills.
